Theres Kate, who is bound and determined to get what she wants, Vlad, the crazy chef with amazing talent, Baz, the comical roommate, and Szpirglas, the dashing pirate. With a mix of fabulous characters, Airborn is one of the best books Ive ever read. ![]() And that proves difficult after discovering that the island they landed on is the pirates headquarters. Of course, Kate wants pictures to show the snotty rich scientists to prove herself right. They also discover one who was crippled at birth and lives on the island. They discover that the creatures are really real, and they are amazing. A notorious pirate attacks the ship, and after being robbed they crash land on a deserted, uncharted island in the middle of the Pacificus. Later Matt meets the balloonists adventurous granddaughter, Kate, and finds out these creatures maybe are real after all. Matt, a young cabin boy aboard an airship, and Kate, a wealthy young girl traveling with her chaperone, team up to search for. And then on a day just like any other, he rescues a rogue hot air balloon whos captain seems crazy, talking about beautiful creatures soaring around in the skies. ![]() Hes just lucky enough to work on an airship. Hes not rich, or a genius, or has some sort of gift.
